Street art artists engage in public dialogues through their exquisite artworks in the city. Large-scale pieces not only test the representation of form and individual style but also facilitate more self-dialogue for artists, pondering over inner spirits and the cultural implications they, as artists, represent.
At the West Gate of Taipei City Hall, four street art artists create on-site, exhibiting the spirit of “freedom and strength” through the physical labor of their high-altitude outdoor creations. Employing the unique joint-picture culture of street art, they make the collective work appear even more majestic, combining to form a one-of-a-kind painting.
With 24 hours of creation time, it epitomizes the extremes of street creation, only fully presented for 10 hours during the ‘Nuit Blanche’ and then disappears, corresponding to the characteristics of street art—completing a piece is synonymous with its disappearance. This represents the artists’ gift of a free attitude to the city and the public.
