The two ends in binary opposition represent a structural mutual definition. For instance, without understanding “evil,” we cannot imagine “good.” One side of the opposition often dominates the other, usually exhibiting an imbalanced power dynamic. One side, usually considered “positive” or “standard,” is assigned higher value or status, while the other is seen as “negative” or “deviant.” In this interactive art installation, individuals on both ends of the seesaw symbolize opposing viewpoints in binary opposition. As the balance of the seesaw shifts, the central light fluctuates accordingly. This demands one side to relinquish control; only in the moment of releasing their force does the light flow freely. This fluidity is not only manifested in the visual flow of light but also extends to a critique of the binary opposition theory and a reflection on broader societal phenomena.
