Sun Son Percussion Ensemble grew out of Sun Son Theatre as a team devoted to the art of percussion. They hold deep respect for world percussion traditions, studying them with care, while also exploring ways to transform everyday objects — pots, bowls, and the like — into instruments full of creative possibility. In every performance, our performers connect with the audience through physical movement and live interaction, sharing the simple joy that rhythm brings.

Any Beat is a playful blend of theatre and percussion made from recycled buckets and scrap metal. Using everyday objects—buckets big and small, pots, pans, and basins—the performers try to coax out a few rhythms and a bit of fun along the way. It’s an invitation to pick up a piece of “junk” and see where the beat takes you, together with the audience.
