Animals that Serve the Frame considers how taxidermied animals, once collected and displayed within a frame, can resemble paintings. The frame becomes an accessory to the act of looking at a painting. A sense of curiosity emerges as several legs are dug out—some resembling sheep’s legs, others like pig’s trotters—peering outward at the landscape from within a cabinet of curiosities. The work becomes a timid yet deeply attached act of looking.
