Room Tour

Room Tour is a video work that attempts to insert another kind of memory into a hotel room: the childhood room shared by the artist and her younger sister, including the habits of arranging furniture and the doodles and scratches on the walls. These traces of personal life are precisely what a hotel space does not allow to remain. As the narrative of childhood memory is layered onto the images of the hotel room, two spatial logics become misaligned. The gap between image and language allows the furniture in the room to become, at once, temporary props soon to be erased and objects that cannot be replaced within memory.
