Chia-Jie Chuang is a dance artist from Taiwan whose practice explores how the body responds to social structures, cultural memory, and everyday experiences. Her works engage with social, psychological, and spiritual themes, transforming personal and collective experiences into an embodied language. Through dance, she seeks to foster dialogue and create new possibilities between audiences, works, and local contexts.
Re-Trace draws on the cyclical structure of Ravel’s Boléro to render time through repetition and delay. As the same melody plays endlessly like Nagashi music, does the body remain unchanged? When watching is prolonged, does perception begin to shift? Through the interplay of rhythmic regularity and bodily variation, each return becomes a new beginning, inviting audiences to experience how time gradually reveals itself through the body.
