表演作品|PERFORMING ART

Dashing Theater, founded in 2019 by Huai-Te Huang and Ping-Heng Chuang, Dashing Theater takes its name from the Chinese character “闖.” Visually interpreted, the character evokes the image of “a horse running out through a gate,” suggesting the act of stepping beyond boundaries and exploring one’s own artistic language and style. It also carries connotations of forceful impact, charging forward, experience, and challenge. Huai-Te Huang seeks to observe the compelling intersections between Taiwan’s historical memories and contemporary trends. Drawing from traditional artistic forms and personal life experiences, he explores new possibilities for expressing modern ideas and perspectives. Through this process, he cultivates a new physical language and creates works with distinctive and unconventional forms. Recent works include Le Sacre du printemps (2026), recipient of the Trophée Danse 2026 presented by Avignon et Moi at the Avignon OFF Festival; Pan Xian (2024), presented at the Indonesian Dance Festival; and OLD (2019), winner of the Best Jury Award at South Korea’s NDA.

Eating History
Nuit Blanche Edition

Eating History (Special Edition for Nuit Blanche Taipei) places the body at the center, with language—spoken and sung—serving as a supporting element. The artist explores a bodily language characterized by rupture and disorder, revealing the psychological states that emerge from such conditions. The work incorporates forms of singing and speaking, transforming elements of Taiwanese funeral culture to directly express a shared contemplation of the conditions of existence in the face of disaster. Through these physical and vocal expressions, the work seeks to create a space for collective reflection and questioning, encouraging deeper thought and dialogue among participants.
