Self-taught, Jann Gallois came to dance through hip hop in 2004. In 2012 she founded the BurnOut company, developing a language that combines hip hop technique with contemporary writing. Her first piece, P=mg, won nine national and international awards. An associate artist at Chaillot and Maison de la Danse, she was made ""Officier des Arts et des Lettres"" in 2022 and is now co-director of l'Agora, Cité Internationale de la Danse in Montpellier.
A block party is a neighbourhood street party built around music. Popular in 1970s New York - in Harlem, Queens, Brooklyn and the Bronx - these gatherings played a key role in the birth of hip-hop culture. Block Party takes the audience back in time through DJ Selecta Seb's selections, while the dancers share break and popping in a joyful, participative celebration.
