JueDai Contemporary Dance Theatre and the Jinqiu Band — Since its founding in 2005, JueDai Contemporary Dance Theatre has established its performance direction with "jazz dance" and "Contemporary dance," adhering to the philosophy that everyone can enjoy dancing. They integrate the entertaining qualities of jazz dance into their artistic creations, steadily realizing their ideal dance style. The founders, Lin Chih-pin and Pan Yu-chen, a husband-and-wife team, constantly experiment and break through boundaries in their works, boldly fusing and changing their styles. Through countless clashes and experiments, they have established a unique Jazz dance style amidst Taiwan’s diverse and boundless development.
The Jinqiu Band is composed of top-tier cross-disciplinary musicians from Taiwan. They primarily perform Mandarin and Taiwanese songs, as well as Western classical and popular songs, presented as a pure wind instrument performance accompanied by rhythmic instruments. The wind instruments are incredibly powerful, and even without vocals, their music is deeply moving. The members are dedicated to creating distinctive musical works and continuously experiment with adapting songs in dialects to promote jazz and Latin music.
Treasure island with jazz – Taiwan Cha-Cha-Cha uses jazz to interpret the most intimate local language of Taiwan, Hokkien, along with familiar songs. It is the jazz feast that Juedai and Jinqiu want to offer audiences, combining the enjoyment of music and visuals. Through dance, jazz showcases the cross-cultural spirit of contemporary art while retaining its own cultural characteristics. The work hopes to encourage people living in Taiwan to appreciate the power and preciousness of freedom and pay tribute to this beautiful island through music and dance throughout the night.
