Cheng-Hao Lai’s creation focuses on the phenomenon of contemporary viewing habits dominated by images, using lightweight materials and handcrafted techniques to reproduce media images, extracting image characteristics and transforming them into spatial objects with physical volume, reshaping the contemporary media landscape within the installation space. The artist's work has received the Silver Prize in the Mixed Media Category at the National Art Exhibition, ROC, Third Place in the Plastic Art Category at the Taoyuan Fine Arts Exhibition, and the Sancf Art Creation Award.
A Milky Dream uses “Shuangcheng” as a search node, through which the artist scraped online images of dairy cows also located in Shuangcheng. The images were printed and pasted onto a cow sculpture temporarily fabricated from corrugated cardboard. Elevated in a high position, the cow invites participants to throw candy into its stomach. As the candy accumulates and reaches a critical weight, the elevated cow collapses under the load, with the sweet candies crushing and rupturing the sculpture.
